Every medal, at any tier, also requires a minimum score of 30 in each of the four individual themes — Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. This rule prevents a company from earning a medal purely on the strength of one theme while neglecting the others. A company scoring 95 on Ethics but 20 on Sustainable Procurement will not receive a medal, regardless of its overall percentile position.

What About Companies Below Medal Level?

Two recognitions exist below the medal tiers:

• Committed — awarded to companies scoring 45 or higher that fall short of the Bronze percentile threshold.

• Fast Mover — awarded to companies scoring 34–44 that have achieved at least a 6-point improvement within an 18-month period.

These badges signal meaningful engagement and improvement trajectory, even without a medal, which matters for buyers assessing supplier commitment over time rather than a single snapshot.

Why Do Medal Thresholds Move Every Year?

Because medals are percentile-based, the actual score required to reach each tier shifts as the overall pool of assessed companies improves. This is an observed trend from third-party trackers rather than a fixed number EcoVadis publishes in advance: between mid-2025 and early 2026, the Silver threshold moved from roughly 68 to roughly 72, and the Gold threshold moved from roughly 77 to roughly 78. Since 2025, EcoVadis scorecards have also displayed unrounded, decimal scores, giving companies a more precise read on their exact standing relative to these moving thresholds. The practical consequence is that "maintaining" a medal requires ongoing improvement, not stability.

What Does Each Medal Unlock Commercially?

Medal status carries direct commercial weight with buying organizations:

A more reliable approach is to build in a margin above the prior cycle's threshold, since the bar a company needs to clear will likely be higher by the time its next assessment is reviewed.
