Framework-specific workshops — practical methodology fluency in CSRD/ESRS, SBTi, CDP, CBAM, and IFRS S2, delivered by the practitioners who work in these frameworks daily.

Every major sustainability framework — from reporting standards and rating methodologies to regulatory requirements and target-setting protocols — carries distinct methodological requirements that demand more than general awareness. An ESG or compliance team that understands in general terms what CSRD requires is not equipped to make the data collection decisions, materiality threshold choices, or disclosure strategy calls that CSRD implementation demands. The gap between knowing that SBTi requires a science-based target and knowing how to select the right sector methodology, calculate the target trajectories, and structure the submission documentation is a methodology gap — and it determines whether the team can contribute to the engagement or must defer every technical decision to external advisors.

Semtrio's framework-specific workshops are designed and delivered by the practitioners who run live advisory engagements in each framework — the consultants who produce A-List CDP disclosures, who build CSRD data architectures, who submit SBTi validation packages. They do not teach textbook versions of these frameworks. They teach what the methodology actually requires, where the most common errors occur, and how the technical decisions that matter most are made in practice.

Book a framework workshop

Framework fluency is the difference between a team that contributes and a team that delegates:

An internal sustainability team with deep framework fluency can drive the data collection design, make methodology decisions, respond to auditor questions, and manage disclosure cycles with significantly less external support than one with only general awareness. Framework workshops build the specific, applied knowledge that enables internal teams to own the technical decisions — rather than presenting each choice to an external consultant for resolution.

Frameworks are increasingly used in combination — and the intersections require deeper understanding:

CSRD requires GHG data that aligns with GHG Protocol methodology — teams managing ESRS E1 disclosure need to understand not just CSRD but how GHG Protocol Scope 3 categories map to ESRS requirements. CDP scoring rewards SBTi-validated targets — teams managing CDP engagements need to understand how SBTi methodology connects to CDP ambition scoring. Framework-specific workshops taught by practitioners who work across multiple frameworks simultaneously address the intersection requirements that general training consistently misses.

Methodologies evolve — and most teams are working from outdated understanding:

SBTi criteria have been revised multiple times. CDP questionnaire structures shift annually. ESRS standards are being updated. CBAM requirements are developing from transitional to definitive period. Teams that received framework training two or three years ago are applying their knowledge to frameworks that have materially changed. Semtrio's workshops reflect current methodology — because they are designed and delivered by practitioners tracking these changes in live engagements, not by training departments reviewing published documentation on a periodic schedule.

Semtrio's framework workshops are structured around a single principle: the content must be at the level of specificity and technical depth that enables participants to make real decisions — not at the level of general orientation that leaves all technical decisions to the outside advisor. A CSRD/ESRS workshop covers not just what ESRS requires but how to conduct the double materiality assessment methodology in practice, how to evaluate whether a topic meets the materiality thresholds, and how to structure the data collection architecture that produces ESRS-compliant disclosure. An SBTi workshop covers not just what validated targets are but how to select the correct sector methodology, how to handle Scope 3 materiality screening, and what submission errors most commonly trigger revision requests.

Workshops are available as half-day or full-day sessions, in-person or virtual, for teams of any size. Content is adapted for the organization's sector and the specific frameworks most relevant to its regulatory and rating obligations. Post-workshop resources — methodology guides, decision frameworks, and template materials — are provided to enable participants to apply learning immediately in live engagements.

CSRD / ESRS Advisory

Teams that complete a CSRD/ESRS workshop engage the subsequent advisory process with materially better understanding — making data collection faster, methodology decisions cleaner, and assurance preparation less dependent on external mediation. Semtrio designs workshops to directly reduce the effort and cost of the advisory engagement that follows.

CDP Advisory

Internal teams with CDP framework fluency contribute more effectively to the annual CDP cycle — understanding what evidence each question requires, why certain responses score higher than others, and how to structure supporting documentation. CDP workshop participants consistently produce higher-quality first drafts that require less external revision.

Science-Based Targets (SBTi) Advisory

SBTi target setting requires precise technical decisions — sector methodology selection, Scope 3 coverage, base year choices. Internal teams that understand these decisions from the SBTi workshop contribute to the target-setting process rather than delegating every choice. The workshop reduces SBTi advisory engagement time and improves the quality of internal input.

Corporate GHG Accounting

GHG accounting workshops build the methodology understanding that enables internal teams to own data collection — understanding what activity data is required, how emission factors are applied, and what constitutes audit-ready evidence. Organizations with trained internal GHG teams reduce the per-cycle external advisory effort as the inventory becomes progressively more internal over time.

Why Semtrio

The practitioner who runs your CSRD engagement delivers the CSRD workshop. The consultant who submits your SBTi validation package teaches the SBTi methodology. This is not a training department — it is the advisory team.

Semtrio does not separate its training function from its advisory function. The practitioners who design and deliver framework-specific workshops are the same practitioners who run live CSRD engagements, submit SBTi validation packages, produce CDP disclosures, and manage CBAM quarterly reports for clients. When they teach a CSRD workshop, they teach from the experience of having run the double materiality assessment process multiple times — knowing where the methodology creates ambiguity in practice, where auditors focus their review, and what internal teams consistently misunderstand about the ESRS requirements. When they teach a CDP workshop, they teach at the question level of the scoring methodology — because that is the level they work at in live engagements.

This practitioner-delivery model is what makes Semtrio's workshops different from sustainability training programs produced by a training division briefed on the advisory team's work. The difference is the gap between knowing that SBTi requires Scope 3 coverage above 40% of total footprint and knowing how to conduct the Scope 3 screening that determines which categories exceed that threshold — a technical decision that determines whether the subsequent submission passes or fails validation. Semtrio's workshops cover the second type of knowledge, because that is the type the practitioners have.

Across more than 2,000 projects and 10+ sectors, Semtrio's practitioners have developed the applied framework knowledge that only comes from active delivery at scale — and that is what they bring to each workshop.
