One supplier data system — feeding your Scope 3 inventory, ESRS disclosure, and ESG ratings in real time, without rebuilding data for each.

Credible supply chain sustainability disclosure depends on reliable, standardized data flowing from suppliers across multiple tiers. The problem most organizations face is not a lack of supplier data — it is a lack of supplier data architecture. Scope 3 calculations require one data format. ESRS S2 supplier impact assessments require another. EcoVadis supply chain theme documentation requires a third. Each framework team collects what it needs, in the format it needs it, independently — and the result is the same data collected multiple times, in incompatible formats, producing inconsistent results. This is the Frankenstein sustainability pattern applied specifically to supply chain data: active, but not coherent.

Semtrio resolves this at two levels simultaneously. First, we design the data architecture — standardized questionnaire frameworks, defined data fields, and reporting workflows that produce one supplier dataset serving every framework simultaneously. Second, for organizations ready to move from periodic questionnaire campaigns to permanent digital infrastructure, we deploy Carbondeck Supplier Analytics: connected directly to ERP and accounting systems, processing invoices with agentic AI, and producing real-time Scope 3 calculations continuously — 7/24.

Design your supply chain data system

The same supplier data is being collected four times — in four incompatible formats:

Most organizations managing supply chain sustainability across Scope 3, ESRS, EcoVadis, and CDP simultaneously have not connected these requirements to a single data architecture. The procurement team manages EcoVadis supplier questionnaires. The sustainability team manages ESRS S2 supplier impact data. The GHG accounting team manages Scope 3 supplier emission factors. Each workstream collects data from the same suppliers, asks overlapping questions, and receives responses that cannot be reconciled with each other because they were designed to serve different purposes.

Scope 3 primary data quality depends entirely on the data architecture:

The GHG Protocol Scope 3 Standard recognizes three data quality tiers: spend-based estimates (lowest quality), supplier-specific average data (medium quality), and primary production-specific data (highest quality). Moving from spend-based to primary data requires suppliers to provide specific, standardized activity data in a consistent format. Without a designed data collection architecture — or a live ERP-connected system that extracts this data automatically — the Scope 3 inventory cannot improve in quality over time regardless of how many times suppliers are surveyed.

ESRS, CDP, and EcoVadis all require supply chain data — and all have different structural requirements:

ESRS E1 requires Scope 3 emissions data broken down by category and supplier tier. ESRS S2 requires identification of supply chain workers' rights topics and mitigation actions. CDP's supply chain section requests specific quantitative data in the CDP supply chain program format. EcoVadis assesses supply chain sustainability as a theme. None use identical data structures — but they share substantial overlapping data requirements that a well-designed architecture can satisfy from shared supplier inputs.

Semtrio resolves supply chain data fragmentation at two levels. The first is architectural: designing a unified supplier questionnaire framework and data collection workflow that captures data for Scope 3, ESRS, EcoVadis, and CDP simultaneously in a single supplier survey, with calculation methodology guidance built in and reporting templates that produce framework-specific outputs without reformatting.

The second level is infrastructural: deploying Carbondeck Supplier Analytics to replace the questionnaire cycle with a live, ERP-connected data system. Rather than sending questionnaires and waiting for responses, Carbondeck connects to the organization's own accounting, billing, and finance ERP systems — extracting purchased goods and services data at supplier level continuously. Supplier invoices processed by the agentic AI system are automatically categorized, mapped to Scope 3 emission calculations, and updated in real time. Supply chain data that previously required an annual collection project becomes a continuously available, always-current intelligence asset — ready for Scope 3 inventory updates, ESRS E1 disclosures, EcoVadis evidence, and CDP supply chain programme responses at any point in the year.

OUR PROCESS

What We Deliver

A supply chain data system — one architecture serving Scope 3, ESRS, and ESG ratings, with real-time digital infrastructure from Carbondeck.

Data Requirement Mapping & Architecture Design

We map the specific supplier data requirements for each target framework — Scope 3 (GHG Protocol primary data fields), ESRS E1 and S2 (supplier impact and emissions data), EcoVadis supply chain theme, and CDP supply chain questionnaire format — identifying overlaps, gaps, and conflicts. We design the unified data architecture that satisfies all requirements from a single data collection exercise, and assess whether a questionnaire-based system, a Carbondeck ERP-connected system, or a hybrid is the right fit. Output: a confirmed data requirement map, unified supply chain data architecture specification, and deployment approach recommendation.

Supplier Questionnaire Framework Design

We design the standardized supplier questionnaire — structured to collect all required data fields across Scope 3, ESRS, EcoVadis, and CDP requirements in a single supplier survey, with calculation methodology guidance built into quantitative fields. We design tiered questionnaire versions for different supplier categories. Output: a complete supplier questionnaire framework with tiered versions and built-in methodology guidance — and where Carbondeck is deployed, the questionnaire supplements the automated ERP data extraction for supplier-specific qualitative data.

Carbondeck Supplier Analytics Deployment & ERP Integration

We configure and deploy Carbondeck Supplier Analytics — connecting to the organization's accounting, billing, and finance ERP systems, establishing the AI invoice processing workflow, and configuring the Scope 3 Category 1 calculation methodology. We validate the ERP data extraction against manual data collection benchmarks to confirm accuracy. Output: a live Carbondeck Supplier Analytics environment, ERP-connected and AI-configured, producing real-time Scope 3 supplier emission data continuously.

Reporting Templates & Framework Output Design

We design the reporting templates that convert the unified supplier dataset — from both questionnaire collection and Carbondeck automated extraction — into framework-specific outputs for Scope 3 inventory inputs, ESRS E1/S2 disclosure data, EcoVadis supply chain evidence, and CDP supply chain section responses. Output: reporting templates for each target framework producing compliant outputs from a single supplier data system — live, consistent, and ready at any point in the year.

Powered by Carbondeck

From supplier questionnaire campaigns to permanent, real-time supply chain data infrastructure.

The annual supplier questionnaire campaign is the most resource-intensive, lowest-quality approach to supply chain data — and it is the approach most organizations are still using. The data already exists: in purchasing systems, accounting software, accounts payable records, and supplier invoices processed every week. But sustainability teams cannot access it directly, so they survey suppliers manually instead — collecting the same data every year, in inconsistent formats, with response rates that rarely exceed 60% and data quality that rarely enables primary-data Scope 3 calculations.

Carbondeck Supplier Analytics closes this gap at the infrastructure level. Connected directly to the organization's accounting, billing, and finance ERP systems, Carbondeck extracts purchased goods and services data at the supplier level continuously — pulling from the same source documents the finance team processes every day. Supplier invoices uploaded to the system are processed by an agentic AI system: supplier categories identified, line items extracted, Scope 3 emission calculations applied automatically. The result is a supply chain data system that operates 7/24 — producing live supplier emission exposure figures that are always current, always consistent, and always ready for disclosure — not reconstructed annually.

As an accredited Climateware consulting partner, Semtrio configures and deploys Carbondeck Supplier Analytics as a core component of the supply chain data system design. We connect the ERP integration, configure the AI invoice processing, establish the Scope 3 calculation methodology, design the reporting templates that feed framework outputs from the live data, and train internal teams to own the system ongoing. Semtrio provides the advisory architecture. Carbondeck provides the infrastructure. Together, they replace the annual rebuild with a permanent, real-time supply chain intelligence system.

Why Semtrio

Supply chain data architecture designed once — serving every framework that draws from it, in real time.

The supply chain data problem is a specific instance of the broader sustainability data fragmentation problem: the same data collected multiple times, in multiple formats, for multiple frameworks, with inconsistencies between outputs that undermine credibility across all of them. Semtrio's approach to supply chain data systems reflects the same design philosophy we apply across the sustainability function — design the architecture once, to the most demanding standard required by any of the frameworks that will draw from it, and structure the outputs so every framework is served from the same verified source.

The practical implication is that the Scope 3 primary data standard (GHG Protocol primary production-specific data) is the most technically demanding supply chain data requirement — and a data architecture designed to meet that standard simultaneously satisfies the less technically precise requirements of ESRS S2 supplier impact data, EcoVadis supply chain questionnaire data, and CDP supply chain program data. Semtrio designs supply chain data systems to the Scope 3 primary data standard — whether through structured questionnaire frameworks or through Carbondeck Supplier Analytics, which makes that standard continuous rather than annual.

Carbondeck Supplier Analytics is the digital infrastructure layer that turns supply chain data from a reporting deadline into a permanent organizational capability. Connected to ERP and accounting systems, processing invoices with agentic AI, operating real-time 7/24 — it is the difference between a supply chain data system and a supply chain data project. Semtrio designs the architecture. Carbondeck delivers the infrastructure. The organization gets consistent, current, multi-framework supply chain data without an annual rebuild.
