Substance of Very High Concern

Under the EU REACH Regulation, a chemical substance identified as posing serious risks to human health or the environment — for example carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic to reproduction, persistent and bioaccumulative, or endocrine-disrupting substances. SVHCs are listed on the ECHA "Candidate List" and may be subject to authorisation or restriction.

Regulation & Compliance

Substantial Contribution Criteria

Substantial contribution criteria are the technical screening thresholds an economic activity must meet to count as contributing substantially to one of the EU Taxonomy's six environmental objectives.

Regulation & Compliance

Supply Chain Due Diligence

Supply chain due diligence is the ongoing process by which an organisation identifies, prevents, mitigates and accounts for adverse human rights and environmental impacts connected to its supply chain.

Regulation & Compliance

Support Cap (Responsible Programme)

The support cap is the ceiling on the total support a company can draw from the Responsible Programme over its five years. Support is paid at 50% of eligible consultancy spend, up to this cap, which is updated at the start of each calendar year for inflation.

Regulation & Compliance

Support Management System (DYS)

The Support Management System (DYS) is the Turkish Ministry of Trade's digital platform through which export-support applications and expenditure claims — including those of the Responsible Programme — are submitted and processed.

Regulation & Compliance

Surrender of Allowances

Surrender of allowances is the annual compliance step in which an installation returns to the registry a number of emission allowances equal to its verified greenhouse gas emissions; surrendering too few triggers financial penalties.

Regulation & Compliance

Sustainability Accounting Standards Board

A set of industry-specific standards that identify the sustainability topics most likely to be financially material for companies in each of 77 industries. Originally issued by the SASB, the standards are now maintained by the IFRS Foundation's International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and underpin its IFRS S1 and S2 disclosures.

ESG Reporting

Sustainability Committee

A sustainability committee is a governance body — usually at board or executive level — responsible for overseeing an organisation's sustainability strategy, risks and performance.
